As we mature our skin changes dramatically, but this also depends on your hereditary genes. Some women age or mature faster than others and this is also due to their environment as well. For instance, if you are a smoker then you tend to have more crow’s feet in your eyelids than others because of the squinting of your eyelids as you smoke; whereas you could have smoked for years and not have a wrinkly in sight. ***SIGH*** Some people are just luckier than others.
Skip the Powder
The very nature of powder is that coats and mattifies our faces. If you’re oily, this can be great, but oil production slows as we age. As we get older, powder starts looking dry, ashy, and dusty on our skin, which visually ages us. What we really want is a youthful glow.
Instead of powder, use a setting spray to keep makeup in place. Add an extra layer of moisturizer to dry or dehydrated areas before applying any makeup. Many finer lines can be reduced or eliminated with extra hydration. Additionally, use liquid foundation with light-reflecting particles, and cream blushes and bronzers.
Foundation Contour
Contouring is a mainstay these days, and as such, there are a lot of products out there specifically for it. However, you may find that some of these are too stiff, too dark, make your face look muddy, and more. The truth is that you don’t need a special product for contouring.
Instead, you can use a foundation stick in the shade of your choosing. This way, you can avoid contouring with unfavorable tones. After all, contour sticks are really just deep foundation sticks in a limited range of shades – kind of a rip-off, right? And if you’re new to contouring and a little worried about your skill level, you can just start with a foundation stick that’s a shade or two darker than your natural skin tone.
Shop What’s New in the Beauty Store!Exfoliate More Often
Exfoliating your skin helps reveal younger and fresher looking skin by using a facial scrub or if you can handle it, at-home microdermabrasion. You would have to do this at least one to times a week depending on how your skin looks, as well as how sensitive your skin is as well. For me personally, my skin is very sensitive, and I could not do this once a week, it would be more like every other week because my face became raw and hurt. Don’t get me wrong it works but test the waters first to see how often you are able to do the process of exfoliation as well as what products work well for your skin type.
Switch to a Heavier Moisturizer
Cold temperatures can suck the moisture right out of your skin. Look for a moisturizer that has hyaluronic acid to help bind moisture to the skin. Layer under your moisturizer to give your skin a big drink of water
Waterproof Mascara
If you are going out in the wind and extreme cold, you might want to wear waterproof mascara. My eyes always water in the cold and wind.
